Florianopolis’ anthem says that “nature has never met so much beauty / no poet ever had so much to sing” and, in fact, the capital of Santa Catarina is known internationally for its natural beauties, its beaches, dunes, lagoons and mountains, a set of take the breath of tourists and even locals, as there are many strongholds and surprises of the Island of Santa Catarina.
In recent years, however, another vocation of the city has been emerging and calling attention to who wants to invest or live in Florianópolis: the city’s ability to reveal and retain talent in the areas of intelligence and technology services.
Beyond the natural beauties
The Floripa Center traditionally concentrated most of the job offers in offices, today the business center has changed, and the north of the Island emerges as an axis of opportunity. The SC-401 Highway is already an example of this. Called “Silicon Valley of Santa Catarina,” the SC-401 houses hundreds of incubators, offices, and technology research labs.
Following this growth, the SC-403 highway, recently duplicated, is the address of Sapiens Parque – the largest technological center in Brazil -, which will soon receive more than 400 companies and 30 thousand workers. Following the concept of “innovation park”, Sapiens Parque will be a point of convergence of ideas and projects, a nucleus of innovative enterprises and economic and social development, following sustainable and diverse premises.
Professional qualification is strong point in Florianópolis
The professional qualification is a key point for the development of this sector in Florianópolis, and much of it is due to the state universities (Udesc) and federal (UFSC) – that are easily accessed by those who live in the north of the island by the highways SC-401 and 403. With consistent teaching, research and extension projects, both Udesc and UFSC provide highly qualified professionals to undertake and operate in the technology intelligence market. This caused many entrepreneurs in Brazil to turn their eyes to the city. In January 2017, the country’s largest collective purchasing site transferred its headquarters to Florianópolis, generating around 400 direct jobs in the first months of operation.
The orderly growth of northern Florianópolis is another attraction: there are the most valued neighborhoods in the real estate market, the Santa Catarina State Administrative Center, the Pedro Ivo Campos Theater and several business centers – as well as a large supply of commerce and services, which means that the residents of the area do not have to travel to the Center on a daily basis.
Economic growth and quality of life
Florianópolis GDP was the fastest growing in Brazil, around 6% per year, according to data from the state government, in the last three decades. For its HDI (Human Development Index), Florianópolis is behind only the Federal District. These numbers, added to the high perspective of life, low mortality, high schooling and governance make the city the Brazilian capital with more quality of life. And quality of life is undoubtedly what most attracts people to Florianopolis.
According to Endeavor Brasil, Florianópolis is a “barn of initiatives”, and the items considered for this classification were:
– Number of technology companies (more than 600);
– 15 university centers and 10 research and development institutes;
– Better capital in digital inclusion.
– Increase in per capita income by 150% in the last 10 years;
– More than 40% of the population are of classes A and B;
– Best Brazilian capital in quality of life;
– One of the ten most dynamic cities in the world, according to Newsweek.
With both potential and growth prospects, there was no better place than the North Island for Real Enterprises to build their first neighborhood planned in Florianopolis. The Real Parque was designed for those who want to be close to their commitments and does not give up practicality and well-being. A complete neighborhood, with a large green area of native forest and leisure infrastructure, close to technological parks, shopping malls, schools, and of course, next to beautiful beaches such as Ingleses, Bom Jesus Waterfall and Praia Brava.
